Cyclone Sports Report: What are your thoughts on getting an offer from Iowa State?Tim Jackson: I was real excited because it's my first one from a Big 12 school.
CSR: Which coaches from Iowa State have you been talking to the most?
TJ: I talked with three of their coaches. Coach (Shane) Burnham is the one who called and offered me and I've also talked with his dad. Coach (Wally) Burnham told me that I could be Iowa State's version of George Selvie who he had at South Florida. I also talked with Coach Bray and he told me about how they had three senior defensive ends graduating so he stressed that defensive end was really a need position for them. He told me that I could come in and possibly make a strong impact early in my career.
CSR: Do you know any of the Iowa State players?
TJ: I played against Leonard Johnson when he was a senior and I was a sophomore. They made a goal line stand against us in the last few seconds to beat us by three points. I know he's a great player.
CSR: What other scholarship offers have you received?
TJ: Auburn, Indiana, Kentucky, Northwestern, Stanford, Tulane, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, FIU, Purdue, UAB, Louisville, and USF.
CSR: Do you have any current leaders?
TJ: I don't have any favorites right now. I would say everybody is equal at this point.
CSR: Have you taken any visits yet?
TJ: I took an unofficial visit to USF and I also attended the Florida spring game.
CSR: How important are academics in your decision?
TJ: They are real important to me because football won't last forever. I want to make sure I get an academic degree that will carry some weight in the real world.
CSR: Will you be taking a visit to Iowa State?
TJ: The coaches and I haven't discussed it yet but I'm sure it will be a topic of discussion soon. I likely will take an official visit there.
CSR: When will you likely make your final decision?
TJ: I'm likely to wait until the fall. I want to take all five of my official visits and then I'll probably decide in early December.
