Iowa
State University honored 17 swimming and diving athletes as Scholar-Athletes in
recognition of their academic achievements. Athletics Director Jamie Pollard
gave a speech at the banquet, which was held in the Scheman Building on Monday,
April 24, recognizing all of the athletes' academic successes.
Senior
Kim
Rogers was chosen by her teammates as the recipient of the All-Around
Student-Athlete Achievement Award. To be eligible for the award, Rogers' earned
one of the top GPA's on the team, made significant athletic contributions,
provided leadership and participated in community service activities.
Rogers was
an all-Big 12 performer after finishing third in the 200 fly with a time of
2:02.00.

Fender, Chelsey
Walden and Lindsay
Wiesner were named High Scholars for posting the highest GPA on the team
in one of the two prior semesters.
17 swimmers
and divers were honored as scholar-athletes, an award given to first year
student-athletes earning a 3.0 cumulative grade point average or continuing
student-athletes that earned a 3.0 GPA in the two semesters prior to their
championship season of competition or maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA.
