ISU eyeing Dallas pass rusher

The Cyclone coaching staff is always looking to add a solid pass rusher and Dallas (TX) Skyline's Mike Moore is one of their top targets.

"I play defensive end but they are recruiting me as an outside linebacker," said Moore. "I'm real happy about it because I want to play linebacker but since my high school team has a lot of good linebackers the coaches feel that they have more need for me at defensive end."

The 6-foot-1, 220-pound defensive end has offers from Minnesota and Iowa State and says that he has enjoyed talking with Iowa State assistant coach Curtis Bray.

"Coach Bray was at my school recently and while we haven't talked yet about a visit I definitely hope to get to Iowa State at some point," he said. "He's a really nice guy and he told me what they like most about me which he said was my pass rushing ability, that I'm coachable, and that he likes how physical that I play."

Mike already has one close link to Iowa State.

"One of my old teammates is at Iowa State," he said. "I played with James White and he told me that it's real nice up there. He said that there is a lot of good people that you deal with at Iowa State."

Moore is just looking to improve on his game and is not likely to make any kind of final decision in the near future.

"Right now I'm just looking to improve my speed and to get stronger," he said. "I'll probably won't make a decision until right before my season starts."
