The 6-1, 165-pound cornerback who had four interceptions last season has offers from Iowa State and Indiana. He is also garnering interest from Purdue, Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Ball State.
Stoner says that he has some great conversations with the Iowa State defensive coordinator.
"Coach Burnham is a great guy who is real fun to talk to and he seems to really know what he is talking about," said Stoner. "He told me they were offering me because they like my length. He said they like that I'm 6-1 with long arms and that I can play corner and that I also have good speed."
Nick has not set up any visits yet but he told CSR that he will definitely be heading to Ames for a visit at some point in the future.
"I'm not sure when I will be going but I will be definitely taking a visit to Iowa State," said Stoner. "We haven't talked about a set date yet but I will set something up in the future."
While Nick has mostly talked with Coach Burnham, he has also gotten to know Iowa State head coach Paul Rhoads and according to Stoner he is extremely impressed.
"I just love his enthusiasm as a coach and I really like talking with him," he said. "He called me right away the first day that coaches could talk to us and for him to offer me without even having me on campus yet really means a lot to me. I have a lot of respect for him doing that and it means a lot to me that he has expressed how much he wants me at Iowa State."
So when would Nick like to make his final decision on a school? "I'd like to have it done before my senior season," said Stoner. "But I have to know that I really want to go that school or else I would wait until later in the season if I had to."
