ISU makes offer to Montgomery

Iowa State has landed some outstanding defensive secondary talent from the state of Florida recently so it was no surprise when they recently offered South Lake High School safety Jordan Montgomery.

"I got an offer from Coach (Shane) Burnham last week and he told me that he is also going to come down and watch me during spring practices," said Montgomery. "I might take some visits to Iowa State and few other schools over spring break in a few weeks but I'm not sure yet if I'll be able to."

During their conversations, Coach Burnham made it clear to Jordan why Iowa State was offering him a scholarship.

"He told me that he likes how I never take a play off," said Montgomery. "He likes my work ethic and he feels that I show solid leadership skills on the field."

Jordan also has offers from Arkansas, Ole Miss, and UCF and is also being recruiting heavily by Oregon and Cincinnati.

The 6-foot-1, 195-pound free safety from Groveland, Florida had 4 interceptions, 6 forced fumbles, 3 sacks, and 98 tackles last season and he told Cyclone Sports Report that there is clearly one factor that is most important to him in regards to choosing a school.

"Obviously I want to find a place that feels like home but the most important thing for me is to find a place where I can play right away," said Montgomery. "I'm not someone who wants to be sitting on the bench and I just want to go to a place where I can compete to play during my first season."

Jordan is not sure when he will make his final decision but it will not likely be made this spring.

"I really want to wait the see what happens over the next few months," he said. "I plan on taking my five visits and then I'll probably make my decision after the season."
