CSR Breakdown: Justin Hamilton

Iowa State assistant coach Jeff Rutter provides his insight on sophomore center Justin Hamilton exclusively with Cyclone Sports Report.

Cyclone Sports Report: What has Justin improved on the most?

Coach Rutter: He might be as hungry to get better as I have ever coached. He just never stops trying to improve and is really trying to get to the next level. He's in good shape and is really light on his feet. The key with Justin is that his play is catching up to the speed of the game. He just needs to play and keep getting experience because he started playing basketball so late in life.

Cyclone Sports Report: What does Justin need to keep improving on?

Coach Rutter: I think that he needs to show more confidence in finishing plays. He also needs to start using his strength and his big body to his advantage. He's really learning the post game and he just needs to keep working on his balance and his footwork. He also needs to release from his block out on the boards and he needs to quickly get two-handed rebounds.

Cyclone Sports Report: What do you see his role being this season?

Coach Rutter: I really think he has a great shot at being one of the key guys on our team. He's battling a few guys right now for that other starting spot up front with Craig Brackins. One thing I definitely know is that he will be a strong rotation guy to say the least.
