Cyclone Commitment Roundup Week 2

Cyclone Sports Report provides you with a complete rundown of how each of Iowa State's 2010 commitments fared during their games this past week.

T.J. McCullough: The star cornerback helped North Marion (FL) High School pull out a tough 14-13 victory over Forest High School. T.J. had six tackles and has led a defensive secondary that has only allowed thirty passing yards combined in two games so far this season. He is very excited about his matchup this week with Dunnellon High School. He will square off with Florida State wide receiver/cornerback commitment Terrence Brooks.

Ricky Howard/Durrell Givens: The Chaffey (CA) College duo suffered a tough 21-7 loss last week to Southwestern College. Tight end Ricky Howard had one reception for eight yards and safety Durrell Givens ended up with three tackles. They will try to rebound this weekend when they take on Antelope Valley College.

Kirby Van Der Kamp: The star punter for West Des Moines (IA) Valley High School booted five punts for an average of 42 yards during a 16-14 loss to Marshalltown. He had one punt downed a the eleven yard line but also experienced a first when he had one of his punts blocked. Kirby punts this week against Newton High School.

Jared Barnett: The star quarterback and his Garland (TX) High School teammates were beaten 7-6 by Lake Highland High School last Thursday before he headed to Ames the next day for an unofficial visit to Iowa State. Jared completed 10 of 24 passes for 83 yards and one interception. This week he hopes to get back on the winning track against Cooper High School.

Jacob Gannon: He suffered a tough overtime loss to Cedar Rapids Kennedy 23-17 but he led an offensive line that helped his Iowa City West team rush for 340 yards. Jacob took an unofficial visit to Iowa State for the Iowa game and he told Cyclone Sports Report that he had a great time seeing the coaches and that he really enjoyed the atmosphere. This week he'll be looking to beat Iowa City High School which is his rival school.

Chris Young: The explosive Trinity Valley Community College wide receiver had his bye week so he decided to take his visit to Iowa State.
