Andre Henley is a 6-foot-6, 220-pound wing who played his first two years of high school basketball at Chicago De La Salle. He recently decided to make a change. "I believe I will be transferring," said Henley. "I just don't know where I'm going yet."Henley attended the Iowa State Skills Camp this past weekend and came away with another scholarship offer. "Coach McDermott pulled me aside at the end of the camp and told me that he wanted me to become a Cyclone," said Henley who also has landed offers from Illinois and Southern Illinois. "I had played pretty well throughout the weekend so I had a feeling it was coming."
Andre says he enjoyed his weekend in Ames and feels that there is a good chance that he could return. "It was a real good time and I feel I learned a little bit of everything," he said. "I don't have any current leaders but I think that there is a good chance that I will take an official visit to Iowa State."
Andre has mainly been recruited by Iowa State assistant coach Daniyal Robinson and says that the two have developed an outstanding relationship so far. "He just started recruiting me real hard this spring and he even showed up at one of my open gyms," said Henley. "He's real nice and one of the coolest coaches that I have met with so far."
Andre will spend the rest of the summer playing in tournaments with his Mac Irvin Fire 16U AAU team.
