Cyclone Sports Report: What was the process that led to you committing to Iowa State?
Jake Knott: They just started recruiting me a little over a week ago and Coach Rhoads was telling me where they were going with the program. Then Coach Link came to my school on Friday and we talked about coming by Iowa State this weekend. So I went there this weekend and met all the coaches and really liked all of them. They offered me a scholarship when I was meeting with them and I committed right then.
CSR: What did they say they liked most about you?
JK: Coach Rhoads said he liked my meanness on the field. He also said he liked how I get to ball so quick and that he also liked my athleticism.
CSR: What does it mean for you to be able to stay in state and play your college football?
JK: It means a lot and with all the support from the fans that you get at Iowa State it's just going to be tremendous. My family is actually moving to Kansas City so it's actually perfect because it is so centrally located for many of the Big 12 games. The game against Kansas State at Arrowhead will be perfect.
CSR: Are you planning on playing next year or will you be redshirting?
JK: Coach Rhoads said he feels I'm physically ready and that they key will be to see how I am from a mental aspect as a freshman because there is so much to learn. If I can learn the system well as a freshman then he said I would have a chance to be on the field next year.
CSR: What role do they want you to play?
JK: I don't even know yet but they did tell me that they'll probably decide that during the first couple of weeks of practice. Either at outside linebacker or the H-back on offense.
