Lichtenberg Reacts To Chizik's Decision

Posted Dec 13, 2008

Bettendorf offensive lineman Kyle Lichtenberg was definitely caught off guard when he heard that Iowa State head coach Gene Chizik was leaving for Auburn.

"I'm pretty surprised to hear the news. I was reading yesterday that he was a pretty strong candidate to get the job and it got me thinking," he said. "I'm just trying to wrap my head around the whole thing."

Kyle told Cyclone Sports Report that it's just too early to tell what he will end up doing. "I definitely have some thinking to do and I'll probably sit down and talk things over with my parents."

The 6-foot-6, 245-pound offensive tackle says that he will definitely give the new coach a chance before looking elsewhere. "I definitely want to see who it is and talk with him," he said. "I'll find out what his qualities are and then I'll make my final decision."
