Cyclones Offer Florida Defensive End

With the Iowa State staff looking to add another defensive end to their 2009 recruiting class they just recently decided to offer Jacksonville (FL) Raines High School's Lawrence Henderson.

"They just want to know when I'm taking my SAT again because I just need to improve that to qualify," said Henderson. "They came down last month and talked with one of my coaches. They want to know when I can come up for a visit."

The 6-foot-5, 220-pound defensive end has scholarship offers from Purdue, N.C. State, UCF, Iowa State, Alabama State, and West Virginia. "Right now my top five would be Central Florida, Purdue, N.C. State, Miami (Fla.), and Iowa State," said Henderson.

He feels that he could definitely come in and help at Iowa State. "They have some good defensive ends leaving and they see that I could be a fine player there at Iowa State," said Henderson. "I believe I'm a pure speed rusher who could help them with getting sacks on the quarterback."

Lawrence has not taken any visits but does plan to in the future. "I'll likely take some visits in December," he said. "Right now I'm just eliminating schools. I just have to take the test again and I know I will do well. After that is done I will likely make a final decision."
