"I loved it and really it was better than I even thought it would be," said Carpenter. "They're definitely one of my favorites. Really I'm just looking for a place where I fit in the best. I still plan on taking all my visits"
The 6-foot-5, 305-pound offensive tackle has already taken unofficial visits to Oklahoma State and South Carolina and he told Cyclone Sports Report that he will heading to Texas Tech (Nov.8th), Ole Miss (Nov.29th), and to Alabama (Dec.5th).
James said Iowa State Head Coach Gene Chizik was very clear with him when they spoke on his visit. "He said that they are rebuilding the program and that if I choose Iowa State I would have a great chance of coming in and starting," said Carpenter. "He really hopes that I choose Iowa State."
James also enjoyed getting to hang out with some of the Iowa State players. "Bo Williams was my host on Friday and then it was Reggie Stephens on Saturday," he said. "They were great guys and I really enjoyed hanging out with them and seeing the campus."
