Carpenter To Finally See Iowa State

Coffeyville C.C. offensive tackle James Carpenter, who originally committed to Iowa State coming out of high school without a visit, will finally get to see Ames this weekend for the Nebraska game.

"If I like the visit then I think I will likely end up there," said Carpenter. "But I'm still going to take visits to Mississippi, Oklahoma State, and South Carolina. Those are my four favorites."

The 6-foot-5, 305-pound left tackle knows one person that definitely wants him at Iowa State next year. "I talked with Coach Chizik and he told me that he really wants me at Iowa State," said Carpenter. "He told me that there is a good chance for me to start at left tackle next year if I go there."

James says that he'll be trying to take everything in that Ames offers before he leaves on Sunday. "I want to check out the coaches, the players, the game atmosphere, and what academics that they have to offer," he said.

James is excited about his visit to Iowa State but is very frustrated by the play of his own Coffeyville team. "Things are not going good right now," he said. "We are 2-5 at the moment so we are trying to turn things around."
