"I would say Iowa State is definitely one of my favorites but right now I'm also looking at a bunch of schools," said Spence. "The nice thing is that they are telling me that they think I could come in and play right away so that's not really something I'm worrying about anymore."
The 6-foot-1, 285-pound defensive tackle has offers from Illinois, Troy, East Carolina, Iowa State, FIU, N.C. State, FAU, and South Florida. "I fully plan to take all five of my visits," said Spence. "I might not wait until signing day to make a decision but it will definitely be after the season before I pick a school."
Akeem will be taking his visit with fellow Fort Walton Beach High School teammate Rashad Smith and thinks it would be great if the two ended up as college teammates. "That would be off the chain if that happened," he said. "It would be so much fun and then I would have someone to connect with when I first got there."
When Spence gets to Ames this weekend he definitely knows what he'll be looking for. "I want to see if I get a feeling like this is the right place for me and I'm definitely going to look at what they have to offer for an education," he said. "It'll be good to see the coaches but I already know that they are real cool so that's one aspect that I'm not worried about."
