"I really like Iowa State and look forward to taking my first official visit there," said Eric Watts who will be visiting Ames for the Kent State game on September 6th. "I'm pretty excited because it's going to be a completely different environment."
The 6-foot-1, 215-pound linebacker from Wolfson High School in Jacksonville, Florida is down to three schools at the moment. "Illinois, Iowa State, and Ole Miss are definitely my favorites," said Watts. "My top school would be Florida State but they haven't offered me a scholarship. Illinois is probably my favorite at the moment and then I would say that Iowa State is probably a little higher than Ole Miss because they have been getting in contact with me a lot more. Whenever I call they always answer and are there to talk with me."
Watts has clearly enjoyed getting to talk with the Iowa State staff. "Coach Fountain came to see me in the spring a few times and then recently I called and they had me on the phone and they were passing it around and so I got to talk to bunch of their coaches," said Watts.
One thing in particular sticks out with Eric when it comes to the Iowa State coaches. "They are real straight forward with me and they don't just tell me things I want to hear," said Watts. "They never talk bad about any other schools when they are recruiting me which I think is good."
Watts plans on taking official visits to all his favorites and likely won't make a decision until those are done. He hopes to learn a lot on his first one when he heads to Iowa State. "I want to see what the program is like and that the players are happy," he said. "Academics are important because I want to study possibly both business management and business administration. I also want to see if they are on the verge of a winning tradition."
