Wulfeck Set For Big Weekend In Ames

Bolles (FL) High School punter Alex Wulfeck hopes he will leave Ames this weekend with a scholarship offer. If he does receive one, it's likely that he will be joining the Cyclones growing 2009 recruiting class.

"I'm pretty much down to Iowa State, Wake Forest, and Miami (Ohio)," he said. "The Iowa State coaches told me that I could grayshirt next year but that if I perform real well this weekend that I might be getting an offer. If I get an offer it's likely that I will commit. I might take a day to think about it but I think I would probably commit. I really want to be done with the process."

Wulfeck has developed a relationship with former Iowa State kicker Jamie Kohl and feel he has learned a lot. "I really feel I'm pretty good putting the ball inside the 20 yard line," he said. "I've been able to pin people near the goal line many times."

Alex has attended camp at Wake Forest and took an unofficial visit to Miami (Ohio). "They have told me that I'm their top guy but they are going to wait until August to see if they will offer me or not."

Alex has stayed in contact throughout the summer with the Iowa State coaching staff. "I have been talking with Coach Fountain most of the time," he said. "I believe they saw my tape when they were at my school in the spring."

Wulfeck's busy weekend won't end on Saturday. "Sunday morning my family and I will then head up to Minnesota for Ray Guy's punting camp," he said. "I've been able to develop a relationship with him because this will be my 14th camp with him."
