Cyclones In The Mix With Griffin

Monsignor Pace (FL) High School wide receiver Sterling Griffin is not planning to be patient once he gets to college.

"I want to get on the field as quickly as possibly," said Griffin.

One school recruiting him where that could possibly happen is Iowa State. "I'm still strongly considering them and they told me there is a good chance of playing early," he said. "They told me they are looking for a big-time playmaker."

The 6-foot-2, 175-pound Griffin had 35 receptions for 970 yards and 10 TD's last year and feels he brings an all-around game to the field as a wide receiver. "I can go deep but I'm also not scared to go across the middle," he said. "I think that makes me different. I always feel the first man just won't bring me down."

Sterling has scholarship offers from Virginia, FIU, Syracuse, FAU, Purdue, USF, Iowa State, and Ole Miss. He says the Cyclones are recruiting him very hard. "I communicate with Coach Boulware about once every couple weeks. He came down to my spring game and said he really likes my energy," said Griffin. "We have talked about me coming up there for a visit but I don't have a set date. I want to get up there and see the campus."

Sterling would also be very interested in playing in the Big 12. "Iowa State plays in a great conference which is very attractive," he said. "That conference has a lot of talent and sends a lot of guys to the next level."

Griffin also has a 3.7 GPA and thanks his parents for helping him to succeed. "My parents always put academics first which has helped me," he said. "Bringing home bad grades is just unacceptable."

Griffin has already attended camps at Boston College and FIU and still has a few places he may go see this summer. "I think I'm going to take unofficial visits to South Carolina, Tennessee, and Florida State over the next few weeks."

He feels his final decision will not be coming until during the season. "I'm going to wait until I take my official visits and then make my decision."
