Allen Showing Off Many Talents

Most athletes would be lucky to just play one sport in college but if Maplewood (MO) High School's Bryant Allen has his way, he will be playing two.

"I really love playing both football and basketball," said Allen. "So if it's possible I really want to play both once I get to college."

The 6-foot, 160-pound Bryant already has offers from Murray State and Illinois State to play both sports and has football offers from Iowa, Missouri, Iowa State, Wisconsin, New Mexico, Indiana, Minnesota, and Kansas. "I'll be taking my visits in the fall because right now I'm real busy with AAU basketball," he said. "I'm not sure where I'll end up but location will not be a factor. I just want to experience college life and be happy."

According to his football coach, David Harris, one school that is really interested in Allen is Iowa State. "Coach Pelton came out and we had a great visit. He really likes him and wants to get him to Iowa State for a visit," he said. "They are recruiting him for either side of the ball because he can play running back, wide receiver, or defensive back."

Harris feels the school that does end up with Allen will really be getting a special talent. "He is kind of one of those exceptional talents that can do anything on the field," he said. "He's a state track champion who can play multiple positions and just consistently shows off the full package. He is as elusive as they come and has really shown to be a true game breaker."

Allen says that his final decision will likely be made sometime during his senior season. "I'll probably narrow it down in August and then probably make the decision in the fall after my visits."
