Florida Linebacker Excited About Future

Hillborough (FL) linebacker Jerod Brisbon is looking to do something very special in the future.

"If I end up playing football in college, I will be the only kid to go to college in my family," he said.

It certainly looks like Brisbon will get that special opportunity with scholarship offers from USF, Iowa State, and Alabama. "To me, I'm looking if they are really interested in me as a person," said Brisbon. "I also want to know if they offer my major because I either want to be an architect or a veterinarian."

One school that he has communicated a lot with is Iowa State. "Coach Pelton has seen me a lot. He's also seen my spring ball DVD and came down to watch me work out," he said. "They want me at weakside linebacker and he (Pelton) told me that he likes my attitude and how I'm very serious about the game. He also likes how fast I play and that I hit hard."

The 6-foot, 205-pound Brisbon also recently got to talk with Iowa State Head Coach Gene Chizik. "He was real excited about recruiting me," he said. "Coach Chizik said that he is looking forward to seeing how I perform in the fall and he wants to get me up for a visit to Iowa State."

Brisbon said he likely won't make a final decision until after his visits. "After my visits, I want to lay everything out with my family on which college is really best for me and then I will make my decision."
