Gaines Ready To Go Camping
Corey Haines

Posted Jun 16, 2008

Godby (FL) High School lineman Corey Gaines has never been to the state of Iowa but that is likely to change during the fall.

"I'm still looking at Iowa State and I think I'm going up there in the fall," he said. "I don't know much about Iowa State but I know they play in a big time conference."

The 6-foot, 274-pound Gaines, who plays tackle on both sides of the ball, says the Cyclones have not yet determined which position he would play for them. "I talk to Coach Bolt a lot and it's really not about football," he said. "It's more about how life is going and I really enjoy talking with him because he's down to earth and actually really hilarious."

Gaines already has nine scholarship offers but added that he also is willing to redshirt at whatever school he eventually chooses. "Coach Bolt said I might have to redshirt at Iowa State which is fine," he said. "I need to get stronger and faster and that way I could have more time to learn the offense or defense depending on where they choose to play me."

Corey is excited for the rest of his summer and will not be making a final decision on a school anytime soon. "I'll be going to camps at LSU, Auburn, and Clemson over the next few weeks," he said. "However, I don't think I'll be making my final decision until next January."
