ISU Hires Cotton as Offensive Coordinator

In hopes of sparking a unit that ranked as one of the nation's worst in 2003 under now-departed offensive coordinator Steve Brickey, Iowa State head coach Dan McCarney has handed over the keys to his offense to a very capable candidate with Big 12 coaching experience.

CN has learned the Cyclones have hired Nebraska offensive coordinator Barney Cotton, who spent the 2003 season in Lincoln after a successful six-year stint at New Mexico State. Cotton would be hired as the offensive coordinator at ISU and handle the coaching duties of the offensive line. Cotton got the nod after interviewing well with McCarney last week in Orlando, Fla.
