Kansas beat Iowa State, 92-81, Wednesday night at Phog Allen Fieldhouse, a loss that drops the Cyclones to 15-4 on the season. Here are quotes from Cyclones and Jayhawks players and coaches.
ISU coach Fred Hoiberg
On Dustin Hogue's flagrant call
"It looked to me like Dustin was trying to prevent the layup, but I didn't get an opportunity to see a replay of it. Their lead went from three to seven in the last three minutes. I think we missed an open look the last time down and they got it up to double digits. I'm not going to say it was anything bad, I thought Dustin was trying to make a good play on the ball. I'll have to look at it on film to see if he wasn't going after the ball, but I think Dustin was trying to prevent a layup."
"I think we had a good defensive scheme out there. We got down early, but we battled back. They made some tough shots to beat us; kudos to them. They played a hell of a game, especially Wiggins."
"We were missing shots and they were making shots. It wasn't anything we did wrong. Defensively, we did our job. Principles, we were in the right spots. They were making shots."
KU coach Bill Self
"We did some good things late when it was a close game and I think with three or four minutes left our guys really guarded. We had three consecutive series where we had steals even though we threw one right back to them. But, I was proud of how we competed down the stretch on the defensive end."
KU's Andrew Wiggins
"There really wasn't any trash talking. I know a lot of them, so it was more like friendly chit-chat."
