Lee's Summit (MO) West defensive end Jamone Boyd has spent the week in Houston for this week's Offense-Defense Bowl, where he's lining up alongside some of the nation's top talent and getting a taste of college ball.

"It's been very fun. It's a little tough with how wet the field has been, but it's cool to meet new guys out here. It's fun to get the chance to play against a lot of top players. At home, you play against some good guys but out here, everybody is good. I like a challenge. It feels good to be an All-American," he said.

Boyd, a recent Kansas State commit, knew the Wildcats were the right fit after spending some time on campus and experiencing the game day atmosphere.

"I had a great time when I went down there for the game against Texas. I've always like them, but that was a really good game; their defense, I felt like I wanted to join in. I waited a few days and then committed," he said.

Another perk in joining the program? Boyd will be playing with friend and teammate, linebacker Nick Ramirez.

"We go to the same high school, he lives about thirty seconds away from me. We've been friends for a long time. He's always been my best friend so it's cool we are both going to the same college that we like," he said.

The 6-foot-4, 260-pound says that he is solid to Kansas State and though he isn't quite sure on the details of how the coaches plan on incorporating him into the defense, he does have one goal in mind.

"I hope I get to see the field as a true freshman," he said.
