Parkes Hebron's Sleeper

Vandy Parkes

Some D1 schools are keeping an eye on Lewisville (Texas) Hebron athlete Vandy Parkes, who is getting a chance to shine at running back filling in as the starter for an injured Dez Wortham...

Vandy Parkes, a 6-foot-0, 190-pound athlete from Lewisville (Texas) Hebron High is a prospect to watch for a division one school.

He has yet to secure his first official offer, but there are a few programs keeping tabs, including a Big 12 school, which seems to be showing the most interest.

"North Texas, Iowa State, Arizona State, Mississippi State and Houston" Parkes informed when asked about the college recruiting him.

"Iowa State sends a lot of letters and they seem really interested."

"I just need to keep doing what I am doing. That is what these schools keep telling me."

After Hebron starter and three-star running back Dez Wortham went down went with a season ending ACL injury it has been Parkes that has answered the call for his playoff qualifying offense.

"Sometimes you have just got to step up," Parkes said. "When a teammate goes down you have just got to step up, take their place and show out.

"I just keep positive attitude and keep after it every play."

On the field, Parkes looks up to Adrian Peterson. He is a different style of runner himself, but likes the attitude and fervor that the Minnesota Viking plays with.

"I try to run the ball hard. Take the hit to them and bring the wood!" Recommended Stories
