Cyclone Sports Report: Is Iowa State’s offer the first that you have received?
Kane Seeley: Yes, I have also heard from Iowa, Drake, and Augustana but Iowa State is definitely the school that is recruiting me the hardest.
Cyclone Sports Report: When did Iowa State start recruiting you?
Kane Seeley: Last summer at their camp is when they first noticed me. Then they started recruiting me and I also was able to come up to some games this past season?
Cyclone Sports Report: What did you think about game day at Jack Trice Stadium?
Kane Seeley: I really enjoyed going up and think it would be cool to play there. I also went to Iowa State football games as a kid and I always thought you had to be really good to play there. Then as I got in middle school I thought I might have a chance if I worked real hard and then last summer at Iowa State’s camp is when I first thought I might have a shot.
Cyclone Sports Report: What does the Iowa State coaching like about your game?
Kane Seeley: The first thing they said was that they were impressed with my hitting. They also like my strength and size for an inside linebacker. Coach Rhoads also likes my work ethic and just feels that I would be a good fit at Iowa State.
Cyclone Sports Report: What is your current height and weight?
Kane Seeley: I’m 6-foot-2 and I weigh 215 pounds.
Cyclone Sports Report: Iowa State has a linebacker named Jake Knott that was also somewhat under-recruited but who has turned out to be an outstanding player under Coach Rhoad’s tutelage. Is that something that you have taken notice of over the past year?
Kane Seeley: I have and they feel that Jevohn Miller could be the next guy and then they would like to add me to that mix. If I end up going there I would definitely trust being coached up by the Coach Rhoads and his staff. He sees my talent and feels I could have a very bright future there.
Cyclone Sports Report: You have known Coach Rhoads for a year now. What is your relationship like with him?
Kane Seeley: He’s just an awesome guy that truly cares about his players. Some coaches are more business-like and don’t really build relationships but Coach Rhoads is just real enthusiastic and positive. I look at him as a guy who would help me and kind of be like a second father because he has really built a family atmosphere at Iowa State.
Cyclone Sports Report: Has it sunk in yet that you could be playing college football in the Big 12?
Kane Seeley: Yeah it’s pretty crazy to think that I could be lining up against the caliber of athletes that get to play in the Big 12 but if I do pick Iowa State I definitely think that I would be up for the challenge.
Cyclone Sports Report: Is the fact that Iowa State is relatively close to your hometown an advantage for the Cyclones?
Kane Seeley: Yeah, because from the start I have known that I never wanted to go real far away so its location is definitely a plus.
Cyclone Sports Report: Do you know at players at Iowa State?
Kane Seeley: I know Devin Lemke a little bit because I wrestled (215-pound category) him in the state playoffs.
Cyclone Sports Report: How did you do against him?
Kane Seeley: It was crazy because we were both undefeated going into the semi-finals match and I was able to beat him 10-5 and then I went on to win the Class 2A state championship which was really exciting.
Cyclone Sports Report: When are expecting to make a decision?
Kane Seeley: I just want to see more on the academic side of things at Iowa State before I make any decision but Iowa State is definitely my top school. I’m very impressed with everything and I’ll very likely make my decision before my season starts in the fall.
