Clyburn transfers to Iowa State

Cyclone Sports Report exclusively talks with Utah transfer Will Clyburn about what led to his decision to choose Iowa State.

Cyclone Sports Report: You got to know Iowa State assistant coach T.J. Otzelberger pretty well when he was recruiting you to Iowa State two years ago before you chose Utah. How much of a factor was that relationship in your decision?

Will Clyburn: It was a big factor because we stayed real close when he was recruiting me and I have just always maintained a great relationship with him.

Cyclone Sports Report: Do you know any of the Iowa State players?

Will Clyburn: I didn't know any of them too well but I went there over my spring break a couple of weeks ago and got to hang out with all of the guys and I really clicked with all of them. I talked with Chris Babb and Korie Lucious and we feel that we'll really be something to reckon with.

Cyclone Sports Report: Have you been able to talk a lot with Coach Hoiberg?

Will Clyburn: It's been mostly over the phone but I plan on getting to know him a lot better this weekend during my visit. I really admire him for his own NBA career and I really feel he can help me get to the next level. I talked with some of the Iowa State players and they told me that he does a great job of putting players in the right position to be successful.

Cyclone Sports Report: Did you consider any other schools?

Will Clyburn: The only other school that I talked to was Gonzaga.

Cyclone Sports Report: You will have to sit out next season. What parts of your game will most look to improve before the 2012-13 season?

Will Clyburn: I want to get stronger and I would say my ballhandling and my shooting. I'm trying to improve my shooting off the dribble.

Cyclone Sports Report: Are you excited to get back to the midwest?

Will Clyburn: Yeah, Iowa State is a lot closer to home and so my family will get to see a lot more of my games. Recommended Stories
